Mysterious Underwater Structure At The Bottom Of The Sea Of Galilee Baffles Archaeologists

Mysterious And Enormous Underwater Structure In The Sea Of Galilee: Researchers Baffled

The underwater biodiversity is loaded with numerous mysteries. We keep hearing about unidentified creatures and mysterious events, but this time, the researchers have found an enormous structure in the sea of Galilee, which has left them completely baffled. Along with this underwater giant structure, several mysterious objects, including a gigantic stone wheel and a moon-shaped monument, were recently found in northern Israel.

The prehistoric stone monuments of Gilgal Refaim, Jethro Cairn and the circular structure found in the sea of the Galilee went unnoticed for centuries. They may be some of Israel’s most mysterious structures that are clearly seen from the sky. The age of these is estimated between 3,000 and 12,000 years, making them older than the pyramid of Giza and Stonehenge in Great Britain.

At about 150 meters in length and 7 meters in height, Jethro Cairn is apparently a crescent shaped stone monument larger than a football field in northern Israel. The Bronze age pottery found here revealed the age between 3050 and 2650 BCE and the crescent shape could have been a symbol of the ancient Mesopotamian moon god, Sin, the special guardian deity of the Chaldeans who lived in the ancient city of Ur.

The site’s most prominent feature is still a temple tower – some 61 m long, 46 m wide, and 21 m high. Another enigmatic monument was discovered 13 kilometers southeast of the monument, this time below the sea level.

About 9 meters underneath the Sea of Galilee, in 2003, not far from where the monumental crescent, a mysterious structure with a diameter greater than the length of a Boeing 747 was found. The massive structure, built out of basalt rocks, measured around 10 meters tall, and weighs an estimated 60,000 tons. Exact age of the structure is not known. The researchers found the nearest basalt outcrop a few hundred meters away.

The Wheel Of Giants

Mysterious And Enormous Underwater Structure In The Sea Of Galilee: Researchers Baffled Gilgal Refā'īm is an ancient megalithic monument in the Golan Heights (Early Bronze Age II, 3000–2700 BCE).

Gilgal Refaim, ‘The Wheel of Giants’  refers to an ancient race of giants, the nephilim, a superhuman race mentioned in the Bible. The gigantic monument is made of 42,000 basalt rocks arranged in five concentric circles that together weigh over 40,000 tons. This has a 4.5 metre burial chamber at the centre of five circles, largest of which, measures 152 meters. The massive structure is seen only from the air.

The circles, some of which, are complete and some are incomplete, suggest that they might be laid out in accordance with the astronomical patterns.

Colossal Monuments But For Whom?

The structures might have been of a great importance, however, their purpose remains still unclear. Transporting them and arranging them is unique, as they were heavy and difficult to be carried by one person. It could have been built only by an advanced prehistoric society capable of organizing the construction of such large structures. It was certain that people were building something that was a lot more durable than their brush huts.
