The European Space Agency is all set to fabricate a dome shaped structure on the Moon! This lunar temple will be a symbol of a universal structure. But, before going into the depth of the same, it will be worth to know about the project of ESA concentrating on building a village on the moon!
A village on Moon
Yeah! While, the entire world has heard more about developing colony on Mars, it seems ESA has a different plan. In accordance with ESA Boss Jan Woerner, he thinks that the first outpost should be the Moon, and then later to other planets.
The Lunar Temple
So, in close vicinity of the settlement is the deemed place to make the lunar temple. Here are some interesting points about the temple:
It would have the most splendid view.
It has been planned to be about 50 m high dome.
It would be in close vicinity of the south pole of the moon.
The acumen of fabricating is that it would give the first settlers a place for meditation or deep thought.
The location of the temple will be the sunlit rim of Shackleton Crater.
The Crater is lit with sunlight most of the time.
Moreover the Earth will be visible for two weeks at a time from the Crater.
One opening in the dome will look towards the Earth, while another will look out at the space-deep and intriguing.
In fact, even previously the lunar poles have been identified as the finest location for settlement in the future. It is because the craters act perfectly to serve as the ‘cold traps’.
The cold traps, aid in preserving water ice, which in turn is a vital source of water, air or even the rocket fuel.
In order to build the domed structure, 3D printing of the lunar soil will be required.
The artist Jorge Manes Rubio, who is also the part of future-oriented Advanced Concepts Team, has designed the temple in the manner that it will be built alongside the planned moon base of ESA.
In accordance to Jorge, he has had a lot of discussions with respect to the likely needs of future lunar settlers. There has been speculation considering the social interaction they will share, the cultural activities they will pursue and the ritual they would execute. Yet again, they are very sure that they will undoubtedly create art and artifacts, since humans have been creating the same for at least 30,000 years.
The ESA points out to the pertinent fact that the intention of the Moon Temple is to make it a symbol of unity for the humankind. It will be reflecting the pull that is always there on the human imagination pertaining to the natural satellite.
Well, definitely immense futuristic prospects are associated with this significant futuristic project. And, it will be amazing to witness the same. So, as the ESA plans the project, it will be one big victory for humankind!
