In archaeology, context is the basis of many discoveries that are imputed to the deliberate workings of intelligence. If I find a rock chipped in such a way as to give it a sharp edge, and the discovery is made in a cave, I am seduced into ascribing this to tool use by distant, fetid and furry ancestors.
What we know of the past is only through the eyes of the archeologists and researchers. Just imagine, there could be so much, which may have been left undiscovered, and that we do not know yet about history. The researchers keep getting surprised as and when they dig deeper into the archeology, but there are 10 such mysterious discoveries that suggest incredible things about the past.
1 – A Roman Sword In Canada
A TV crew accidentally stumbled upon a Roman Sword in Oak Island, Nova Scotia, which seemed to be of AD 200. It suggests that the Romans might have been to North America 800 years before the Vikings. One theory suggests that a group of Roman and Carthaginian explorers might have traveled out West about 1,800 years ago, and would never have returned, because there are Roman graves in Canada and no records of them in Rome. Some also suggest that the whole discovery would be fake as it was done by TV crew.
2 – Chinese Oracle Bone Writing In The United States
John Ruskamp found strange symbols that he believes to be messages written in Chinese Oracle Bone – one of the oldest Chinese writing, which suggests that before Vikings, Chinese made it to America. One of the writings in Arizona appears to read “Set apart (for) 10 years together; declaring (to) return, (the) journey completed, (to the) house of the Sun; (the) journey completed together.” It seems to be a message left behind by explorers in a new world.
3 – Ancient Ape Bones In Ireland
At the Hill of Tara in Ireland, ape bones were found, which were given royal treatment. Another ape skull has been found in County Armagh that appears to have been there for about 2,300 years. An ancient Irish legend claims that Egyptians with advanced technology, ruled the people from the Hill of Tara. Some constructive proofs to this theory are DNA testing samples on ancient Irish bodies that suggest they have an ancestor from the Middle East and also 3,800-year-old remains of a boy have been found, wearing what appears to be an Egyptian necklace.
4 – Native American Legends Of White Giants
One of the legends of the white giants suggest that many years ago, there was a race of white men, 305 centimeters (10′) high, who drove the Indians from their homes, putting them to the sword, and occupying the valleys in which their fathers had dwelt. But, when the Greek Medallion and two coins were found in Oklahoma, genealogist Donald Yates started piecing together the evidence and realized that this wasn’t an isolated story. There were many other theories like this one, such as the Choctaws also had a story about “a race of giants” with white skin who lived in the state of Tennessee.
5 – Mayan Murals Showing White-Skinned Warriors
There are murals inside the Temple of the Warriors in Chichen Itza, depicting brutal battles fought between a very diverse group of people, which points towards the fact that different races of people might have fought around modern Mexico. The Maya left behind a story called the “Dance of the Giants” where a white giant believed to be Viking, pairs up with the Maya and helps them fight off a black giant believed to be Aztec, who’s harassing them.
6 – A Temple To An Egyptian Goddess In India
There is a secret chamber underneath the ruins of a temple to the goddess Pattini in Western India, is rumored to hold an underground shrine to the Egyptian goddess Isis. Chris Morgan, a writer, suggests that Goddess Pattini might be an Indian evolution of the concept of Isis, the Egyptian goddess, spread through that shrine as both the legends are about women defined by the brutal murder and dismemberment of their husbands.
7 – The Giant Village Of Peru
In Pedro Cieza de Leon’s book The Chronicles of Peru, a strange village built by the giants was described, which suggested that the giants came in large boats and were huge. Oddly, he also claimed to have visited the village and seen a giant’s skull, a femur and attested that other Spaniards saw teeth.
8 – The Marcahuasi Ruins
The Marcahuasi Ruins are strange rocks sculpted in a shape of human head in the Andes Mountains, which the researchers suggest, could be natural, man made, made by biblical civilisation – Masama, or made by aliens. They are the crude copy of Sphinx, but its creator is unknown.
9 – The Three Handbags Of Heaven
A strange design like a little handbag, usually drawn in groups of three and usually up in the sky, has been seen in art from all around the world, including India, Egypt, and even Central America. The Maori of New Zealand used the three handbags, and a myth about a hero who went up to Heaven to get three baskets of knowledge, seems strikingly similar. This could indicate that the Maori had ancestors from middle east.
10 – The Redheaded Giants Of Lovelock Cave
In 1911, miners working in Nevada’s Lovelock Cave found mummified remains of a 198-centimeter (6’6″) man with red hair. Some more incredible things such as 38-centimeter (15 in) sandals, which appeared to have been used by a very large person, and a giant handprint, twice the size of that of a normal man. There are many speculations about the red heads, but the original red head mummy was destroyed making the story impossible to prove.
