A boating startup, Jet Capsule, has begun working on a prototype for Unidentified Floating Homes, futuristic houseboats that look like UFOs.
The design definitely has been inspired by the extraterrestrial, and Italian team came up with a concept of watercraft, called UFO, which contains two half-spherical shells serving as passenger compartments and which are also divided by a floating disc, that doubles as a sundeck.
The UFO yacht is intended to be a two storey floating house, with a waterline length of 40 meters and a middle disc – 12.55 meters.
The surface of the disc will be covered with glass and trees and will be used as a sundeck, where passengers can walk or even cycle. The interior would feature the kitchen, lounge or luxury amenities which are usually found in a swanky house, even though the space is sort of limited.
The lower level would contain a bath with spectacular view and the interior would have 2.2 meters of head room.
According to the designers, led by Pierpaolo Lazzarini and Luca Solla, the floating home would be equipped with compass allowing to keep the house on the right course. Even during the rough seas, UFO would keep stable position thanks to a special elastic anchor system.
The UFO floating home is environmentally friendly and self-sufficient, as it uses solar panels, wind or water turbines for its energy, an electric engine and water generator, which turns salty or rain water into drinking one.
However don’t expect it to be fast, as the vessel is designed for slow motion vacation with a maximum speed of only three knots.
This is not the first project of a team, as they are the ones who created a carbon fiber Jet Capsule, which can be used both as a luxury yacht, or a taxi, or even a police cruiser.
However this time, the team confesses that such proportions have never been used before on the watercraft and create a spacious interior which can fit around 13 people, including the operator.
The height of the vessel is seven feet, and it has both heating and air conditioning to keep passengers comfortable and cozy no matter what is the weather outside.
You may reach the top deck via stairs from the back of the vessel, where you can also see a private jet, rear doors and tinted windows.
