“Earth is the cradle of humanity, but one cannot live in a cradle forever.”
― Konstantin Tsiolkovsky
Futurism is the new thing the researchers are focused upon. Humans are constantly evolving and looking for newer things that are more advanced than the present. This is basically how evolution of the humans happened from stone age, to industrialisation and robotics. But these futuristic visions are constantly growing and some of these have already in action while some of them are in the pipeline.
1 – Pedestrian Crossing
In order to reduce the percentage of pedestrian fatality, Singaporian Land Transport Authority is testing a new pedestrian crossing mechanism, where LED stripes indicate solid green meaning pedestrians may proceed across the street; solid red meaning they must wait. These are located in the areas with high pedestrian traffic.
2 – Doctor’s Office
The patient uses a computer application (app) to schedule an appointment, signs in, using an iPad built into a console during the visit, while the computer responds by providing a list of the tests, examinations, and consultations the patient and doctor will be involved in. The vital statistics of the patient are recorder by a body scanner and patient can access the data at any time on an app.
3 – Hotel
Henn-na Hotel’s receptionists, bellhops, and maids, near Nagasaki, Japan, are robots who greet guests, carry luggage and clean rooms, and manufactured by robotics company Kokoro. They are multilingual, attuned to guests’ tone and body language and can blink, eye contact and breathe, plus they are also supported by a few human employs.
4 – School
Futuristic schools, will be no more having textbooks, computers, laptops, or written exams—and maybe no students—in classrooms. Books and exams will be digitised. The researchers also claim that an interface between your brain and metacognition technology would be possible.
5 – Car Dealership
Hyundai has opened the first customer-centered digital dealership in the Bluewater Shopping Center in Stone, Kent, England where customers complete their transactions using iPads placed about the showroom. Also, they can take the cars for a test drive as they are fitted with tracking systems. Automotive repair service is available at the dealership as well where customers leave their vehicles to be serviced in an area of the shopping center, and they self drive to the repair facility.
6 – Church
As part of the church’s community outreach program, a recreation centre is set up, which is intended to provide family entertainment. This Faith Chapel Christian Center in Wylam, Alabama, includes a 12-lane bowling alley, a basketball court, fitness center, climbing tower, cafe, banquet hall, and playground.
7 – Home
Mood lighting is a new architectural trend intended to accommodate a variety of consumer lifestyles. In future, the banks and builders will include some advanced features such as flexible floor plans, sliding walls, mechanical ceilings, and robotic furniture, where the monitors will also remind the residents to work out or recycle water for gardening use.
8 – Grocery Store
For reducing waiting time and improving customer satisfaction, some of the grocery stores are going high-tech, using infrared cameras to detect customers’ body heat and determine how many shoppers are there at particular times of the day. Self-propelled shopping carts following customers, a smartphone app to share their shopping lists, and paying with fingerprint scanners, are just a certain features.
9 – Police Station
Los Angeles metropolitan police station is promoting futuristic design, while respecting the privacy of the police and their prisoners, it will feature transparent and translucent glass walls that admit sunlight and allow community residents to view the station’s interior, metaphoric to the government and police transparency. Also, community centers equipped with meeting rooms, free Wi-Fi, and computer labs, all available to the public, are in vision.
10 – Gas Station
With futuristic cars, even the gas station needs to evolve, where no human is needed to manage, and self-driving, hybrid, and electric cars being serviced side by side in gas stations where payment is done on phone app or credit card. Apparently right now, 10% of the market has self driven cars.
