It is has been well known among all the scientists and researcher that the weirdest volcano which is present is our planet earth is the Ol Doinyo Lengai which is located in Tanzania. The name of the volcano in Maasai language means “Mountain of God” in the local Maasai language. The most amazing fact about this volcano is that it erupts lava which is cold and one can fall in it but still survive.

The lava which is erupted by this mountain has never gone past the temperature of 510°C (950°F), which is much lower than the normal lava temperature of 1,000°C (1,832°F) which is found in our planet. Also the color of the lava always remains black instead of red as there is not enough heat radiated to make it look red in color.

Once in the year of 2007 a local Maasai villager even fell into one of the active lava flows of the volcano which flow through a crater but amazingly he actually climbed out of the crater himself. Though he was burnt he managed to survive making him the only person to achieve such a feat. The viscosity of the lava is also very peculiar as it makes the lava flows look like water flowing down the mountain slopes. Also the lava flows at a much faster pace as compared to any other volcanic eruptions.

The Lava Which Lets You To Walk And SurviveThough Ol Doinyo Lengai's fresh natrocarbonatite lavas—which erupt at around 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit (500 degrees Celsius)—are roughly half the temperature of more common basalt lavas, the spattering drops of molten rock will still burn through a cotton jumpsuit like a cigarette through nylons.

The lave type which flows from this volcanic orifice is called a “carbonatite.” This lava rather than containing normal lava constituents like oxygen and silica, contain various alkaline elements like sodium and calcium with some amounts of carbon dioxide dissolved in it. It contains such high levels of sodium that it is also called a “natrocarbonatite.” Due to the low melting points of such molecules as compared to silicate, the lava from this volcano erupts as such low temperatures. This creates a situation where streaks of black lava are thrown towards the sky which freeze in the middle of the sky and drift away or even float in the wind.

The location of the volcano is such that it is trying to fill the void which is being created due to tearing up of the entire African continent.Very few carbonatite lavas are found around the world though most of the discovered ones are present in the region of East African.

Scientists and researches try to justify the existence of such a volcano by using a theory that due to the large amount of such particles present in the magma the basic elements become separate and no longer mix together. This leads to the formation of a new kind of lava. This volcano also has several benefits other than only weird. The rare elements present in the lava are of vital importance in the creation of various items in modern electronics. In reality this volcano does not pose a significant threat to the humans and to planet earth, even when it erupts molten lava, ash and smoke. Rather than causing any harm it is turning out to be a useful research spot many archeologists who can study its 370,000 year old history and structure.

This volcano has been a source of amusement for many of our ancestors and ancient human beings who have been left dumbstruck by this mountain. Whenever an eruption take place the landscape gets covered in ash, and humans walk on the soft cold lava and leave behind footprints for entire decades.
