Sufferer of sleep paralysis Nicolas Bruno transforms his terrifying dreams into photographic realities. An extremely talented photographer has been haunted by his sleep paralysis since he was 15. He has since used these nightmares and visions to inspire his surreal and conceptual photography.
Sleep paralysis is a feeling of being conscious but unable to move. It occurs when a person passes between stages of wakefulness and sleep.
The 22 year old New York native depicts his characters like they stuck within their scenes, unable to escape. By using props and his natural talent, Nicolas is able to create images that remain with you long after you view them.
He doesn’t have assistances, expensive lighting or other gadgets. It’s just one man and his camera.
Hera are some of Nicolas’s dramatically imagined images.
He also derives inspiration from classical and contemporary painters such as Caspar David Friedrich, Gilles Beloeil and Caravàggio.
